Are you prepared for an emergency caused by a man or a natural disaster?

Hurricane Katrina, closely followed by Hurricane Rita should have taught us all a lesson or two about the value of preparation.

On the one hand, it is unwise to believe that another person, especially "Big Brother "is pulled through, at least in a timely manner, if this is you in a real disaster situation. You may have to be your own answer first place.

Moreover, unless it is prepared for an emergency in time, there is little hope that you will be able to do much to improve the situation immediately after the disaster.

Even taking a few simple steps to prepare yourself and your family in case of emergency can be the difference between life and death. Although this may seem a dramatic statement I think that those who are directly in the path of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, would agree.

One of the most important things to do to prepare for a disaster is to have a written plan for emergency disaster created by you and your family follow in case an adverse event occurs. This written plan will serve you well, regardless of the cause of the emergency. The plan should include: 1. A default location go if separated. 2. Identification bracelets or ID cards for all family members. This is particularly important for young children. 3. Do not expect the cash machines to work in a serious emergency. 9. Do not forget that the essence can be enough if evacuation is necessary. Be sure to keep a full tank of petrol your vehicle if there is any possibility that you may have to evacuate. Maintaining a period of five gallons of gasoline or two extra on hand also deserves consideration. 10. Make sure you have access to a crank radio.

Plan sufficient unto himself for a week after a disaster of great extent.
